De’Canela is a Napa Valley-based Latinx, woman-owned baking service with a wide variety of decadent and minimalistic confections for any celebration—using premium, locally sourced ingredients with offerings to match dietary needs and custom requests. We honor our traditional Mexican roots by creating each item by hand, with love and care.
De’Canela was founded by Minerva A. Growing up in Mexico, Minerva discovered her love for baking at a young age. Learning from her Mother, relatives, and every cookbook she could find. Minerva graduated in journalism, was there that she heard about food journalism and began to investigate more on the subject. She discovered that she could do two of her favorite things at the same time. Before attending culinary school with pastry chefs, where she refined skills professionally.
Today she spends her time perfecting her craft, creating custom confections for clients all year round, discovering new recipes, and always finding ways to weave her rich heritage into her work.
Minerva's professional pastry training and upbringing in Mexico give her a unique perspective on modern baking today. As a Latinx woman, wife, Mother, and artist, she extends care and creativity to everything she creates.
After finding herself adapting her Mother's original recipes with her own twist, she began experimenting with signature flavors and modifications. In 2018 the first batch of Horchata Cinnamon Cookies was sold, and De'Canela Bakery was born. By honoring her heritage, Minerva uplifts cultural traditions that are often minimized.
